Examining Goat on Ranch

Biosecurity & Testing

Updated October 1, 2023:

We are still in the process of building our herd and as such are not considered "closed". However, as of this update, all of our goats born before 2022 have been tested for CAE/CL/Johnes and found to be negative.

This round of testing focused on our yearlings, bucks, and a new brood doe: Dezi.

All results were negative for CAE, CL, and Johnes.

January 2023

This round of testing focused on our three senior girls: Spice, Doterra, and Trixie. All three were found to be negative for both CAE and Johnes. They'd already each been tested for CL during initial bio-security testing.

However, we were also in negotiations to purchase an additional three new does. They are included on the test results. While in quarantine, they were found to be positive for CAE. As a result, they were never allowed to join the main herd and arrangements were made with the seller for their return.

Finally, Trixie and Spice were tested for Q Fever and found to be negative.
