Local Pork

We have 6 feeder hogs that will be ready for processing on October 30th. We generally work with Jerome's Meat Market or M&M's Smokehouse for processing. This year, we will be processing with M&M's smokehouse.

Check out each processors respective Processing Page for more information about available cuts and options.

How does it work? Once you reserve your pig with us with a $50 non-refundable deposit, we'll provide you with the necessary information to fill out your order form with the processor. We will deliver your pig to the processor, all you have to do is pick up the meat after it's ready! Usually the items will come packaged for the freezer.

How much does it cost? We charge $5 per pound based on the hanging weight of the pig and whether you've selected a whole or half hog. Each pig will weigh a slightly different amount and the percentage of live weight that becomes hanging weight will vary slightly as well. If we practice with an example hog, let's say Sir Porkington is 250 pounds live weight. After initial processing, it's normal to arrive at 70% of live weight as hanging weight or 175 pounds. Let's also suppose you selected the 'half hog' option. The charge paid to us, the farmer, would be $5 x 0.5 x 175 or $437.50. You will also owe processing costs, which you will pay directly to the processing facility. More information about these fees can be found on their page or by contacting the processor. Your deposit will be applied towards your final bill with us.

About the Pigs -

Each of the pigs we're offering was sired by a Berkshire boar. Berkshires are a heritage pig, originally from England. The royal family even used to keep a herd at Windsor Castle. The flavor is highly regarded, if you look around the internet, you'll see folks saying that Berkshire is to pork what wagyu is to beef.

Our pigs were purchased as small feeders and, since they've been on our farm, they've received no additional pharmaceutical products. They are being raised on a combination of fresh goats milk, pasture, and conventional pig feed.

As reservations come in, I will track them below. If you see your initials below, your half or whole hog is reserved! We'll contact you for your deposit once the scheduled processing date is available.
